How Will It End?

It’s not so much a case of when it will end, this massive oil “leak” in the Gulf of Mexico, but how it will end. Are we looking at the beginning of the end of life in the great body of water? The thing that really bothers me is BP would not have spent all that money and time to drill a well so deep( 5000 ft. over a mile deep) if they weren’t pretty sure there was a buttload of oil down there. If BP, or someone else, can’t find a way to stop this prodigious outpouring of crude, it could, in all likelihood, go on for years, turning the Gulf and the surrounding coastline, into a giant sludge pit. God, how depressing.
